Job Description Overview:
Lead a team of software engineers responsible for all tools related to deploying and managing our e-commerce Software-as-a-Service enterprise operation.
Responsibilities:
• Build and maintain the tools for monitoring, performance measurement, deployment automation utilities, and internal work flow for development, operations, and release control in a 7x24 mission-critical production environment
• Work with Hosting Operations team members and other internal development organizations to gather requirements, implement application logic and command line user interfaces
• Act as a point of contact for various engineering groups into operations
• Work with other Operations leaders to determine project priorities, track progress and provide project status to Operations leaders
• Explore new technologies for future planning and possible implementation
• Create and maintain an environment that encourages career growth, teamwork, and overall employee engagement
• Coordinate and prioritize team tasks, drive projects to high-quality, on-time completion
• Drives consensus for design and process changes, as well as documentation and monitoring changes
Basic Minimum Qualifications:
• B.S. Computer Science or equivalent experience
• Minimum 3 years experience managing a team of 3-6 developers
• Excellent communication skills, excellent team player and must be a quick learner and creative problem solver
• Experience with team building and career management
• Minimum 7 years of Perl experience on UNIX or Linux in an Internet-service environment
• Good knowledge of operating system internals, file system structures and machine architectures in a UNIX or Linux operating environment
• Proficient in object-oriented design principles with skills in Java, Perl, Objective-C or C++
• Broad Internet understanding: TCP/IP programming, basics of how HTTP and other major Internet protocols work
• Good understanding of enterprise level security best practices
• Carefully follows and employs change control procedures
Preferred Qualifications:
• Proficiency in SQL development preferably in an Oracle environment
• Experience building applications on top of RDBMS
• Experience developing release control tools in a fast-paced environment with well-developed practices and procedures
• Experience with web application servers (WebObjects, Tomcat, WebLogic)
• Experience with hosting e-commerce applications
