Chief Architect

We are a stealth mode startup that is backed by one of the best VC firms in the world. We are a small, rapidly expanding team that is working on cutting edge stuff.

As the Chief Architect, you will be responsible for providing deep technical expertise on our next generation, disruptive, storage initiatives. In addition to technical architecture ownership, you will collaborate with Engineering and Product Management teams to distill customer needs into use-cases and requirements, work to influence and execute on our storage roadmap and initiatives.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide technical leadership for next generation storage platform technology
  • Work with the Engineering and Product Management organizations to establish and deliver the product roadmap
  • Innovate and develop new storage and storage management technologies
  • Assist in technically managing initial storage implementations including proof-of-concepts and pilots
  • Mentor and lead a strong team of developers and QA engineers
  • Maintain deep technical and business knowledge of storage industry directions and trends
  • Work collaboratively with Engineering and Product Management during the development, launch, and continuing refinement of storage related technologies
  • Document best practices and architectural references in developing and deploying product solutions

Mandatory requirements:

  • Has led the architecture, design and implementation of a primary storage system (or of major components within)
  • Experienced in shipping multiple products/releases and supported customer/field escalations
  • Has a good understanding of enterprise software methodology: good coding skills, follows coding standards, unit testing, regression testing, scale/system testing and understands performance methodologies
  • Solid understanding of x86 architecture, data center networking and storage (HBAs, shared storage, Flash/SSD)
  • Good algorithmic, data structures, and analytical skills
  • Very familiar with distributed system concepts and has dealt with them in real world experience: Paxos, 2pc, 3pc, quorum/membership protocols, messaging layers, distributed locks, clustering, etc.
  • Track record of mentoring and leading development teams, good team player
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral
  • Most importantly, brings in tons of passion and takes great pride in what he/she does with a can-do attitude

Highly desirable requirements:

  • Shipped a storage appliance
  • Ability to see and present the "big picture", and offer solutions to make it better
  • Strong customer facing and relationship building skills
  • Graduate degree in computer science, engineering, related field or equivalent experience
  • Industry recognition that can help attract additional talent
  • Prior startup experience
